Vennelag 5-513 Sons of Norway Lodge, Mount Horeb, is hosting a travel excursion to the beautiful Door Peninsula from September 16-18, 2014, two nights, and three days. Badger Coaches will be the transport provider. Outbound, the first stop will be in Sturgeon Bay for lunch at a restaurant yet unconfirmed.
There will be a stop at the Cana Island Lighthouse for an optional tour by participants. For those not climbing the Light, there will be time for photos and a chance to stretch your legs or for a little stroll. If time permits, will also stop to see the Boyton Chapel, the stave kirke, at Bjorklunden. Accommodations will be at The Nordic Inn, Sister Bay. www.thenordiclodge.com
The group will enjoy a fish boil at Pelletier’s that evening. A continental breakfast will be provided for participants the next morning.
A ferry trip to Washington Island begins day 2. Climb aboard The Cherry Train for a reserved tour. A stop at the stave kirke, built to resemble those in Norway, among others. There will be a rest stop at the Danish Mill where parched or hungry travelers can buy a drink or an afternoon sandwich or snack. Once back on the mainland, time has been set aside for shopping. Dinner will be at Al Johnson’s, where the rooftop goats will welcome you!
Breakfast on day 3 will be at The Cookery, a mainstay in Fish Creek. The Schoolhouse Winery will be one of the last venues. Then settle back into your comfy seat and let the professional driver whisk you back to Mount Horeb safely.

Høst Frokost 2014
Sons of Norway Vennelag 513 will have our 12th annual Frokost, or Norwegian Fall Breakfast on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 7:30 am to 11:00 am. Held at the Mount Horeb Community Center, open to the general public.
The event, held in conjunction with the Mount Horeb Fall Festival, gives us the opportunity to share Norwegian culture and heritage with friends and neighbors. The menu can consist of such items as Norwegian pancakes, heart waffles with lingonberries, aebleskiver, soft or hard-boiled eggs, rollepolse, lefse, breads, ham, dried beef, salami, cheeses, herring, smoked salmon, fruit salad, coffee, and Norwegian cookies and cakes.
Watch for the trolls guarding Main Street as you make your way to the Community Center.
Baking Workshop 2014
Sons of Norway Vennelag 513 will host a Norwegian Baking Workshop on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Mount Horeb Community Center from 9:00 am to noon.
Make great Norwegian holiday treats just like Grandma! This is a hands on workshop, and you will have the opportunity to prepare such goodies as Lefse, Rommegrot, Rosettes, Sandbakkelse, Krumkake, and Ableskiver.
